REIB Engineering has been offering mobile laser scanning services since 2016.
Our first mobile laser scanning device, Riegl VMZ/VZ-400, is still in use today. This device is slower than our newer system, but it also allows laser scanning using the Stop&Go method. This scanner has a very long measurement distance - up to 600 meters. The speed of movement when scanning with the Riegl VMZ/VZ-400 system is 30-40 km/h.
In 2024, we acquired the mobile laser scanning device Riegl VMX-2HA. It is significantly more capable than the first device. The Riegl VMX-2HA measures over 3 million points per second with 2 scanners simultaneously and allows measurements to be made at highway speeds, i.e. up to 90 km/h. This device belongs to the top class of MLS technology in the world and has successfully passed the quality tests of the Swedish Road Administration in 2023 and 2024.
Mobile laser scanning technology is ideal for the following tasks:
- surveying roads and streets - topographic maps, 3D models of the ground and surrounding structures, detailed measurements of the road surface (pavement markings, ruts, unevenness, cracks), bases for milling projects, bases for infrastructure projects;
- surveying railways from a moving vehicle on the railway;
- surveying quarries (where it is possible to drive a 4WD car);
- surveying other objects to obtain a topographic map and 3D model, wherever a car can be driven;
Mobile laser scanning allows to significantly increase the performance and safety of field surveying on busy roads and streets, shortening deadlines and ensuring the result in the form of a highly accurate detailed 3D point cloud.
Accuracy is ensured by a number of high-tech accessories in the scanner kit and precise GNSS post-calculation and trajectory calculation. Special software is used for data processing.
