Design and construction begin with surveys. Building without surveys can be compared to treatment without a diagnosis.
The purpose of construction surveys (geodetic and geological) is to obtain basic information for designing and adapting a new object to the environment, and after the new object is completed, to link it to the previous one through an as-built survey. During geodetic surveys, the land area is surveyed and data on existing utility networks is determined. Geological surveys determine the pre-design condition of the soil under the construction.
The investment made in construction surveys pays off in several important ways during the construction process:
- Mitigate risks and prevent problems;
- More accurate and optimized design;
- Smooth construction process and time savings;
- Accuracy of procurement and budgeting;
- Higher quality and longer-lasting results.
